My little princess

submitted by: Glenn

Being a dad is such a blessing. The other day I received confirmation that I was doing a good job as a daddy from my little girl.

The wife and I were watching a TV program when Amanda walks in dressed in her usual garb of crown, sequined gloves, princess dress and high heels. She saunters over real slow, head high and informs me that I am now her prince and that she is the princess.

Now I know that little girls look up to their fathers. However, you better listen when she grabs your face and tells you that you are her prince. I don’t think I have ever seen her so serious. I felt my heart jump and my eyes water right then and there. I picked her up, gave her a big hug and kiss and told her she would always be my princess.

Now no matter what I am doing, if she is in princess mode I have to wear my crown as well. I suppose you can’t rule a kingdom all by yourself.

To a 3 year old, her world is a kingdom already. Being the daddy/prince, I only hope I can live up to the princesses expectations. I didn’t realize it was so heart wrenching to live in the palace with such a wonderful, wise, beautiful princess.

You hope they never grow up and that they never have to endure all the things life deals us. But if we can stop for a moment and look at the reason we do the things we do, it makes life look so much better. I wish I could make the world stay the way it is for her now. I will try my best to make the world a wide open great place for her to grow and explore. Perhaps, if I succeed, she really will be able to be the princess she believes she is.

Very good, and as I know her and you, you have been blessed with a very wonderful little girl.  I love you all.  I hope that the coming year brings health and happyness to the whole family.  Remeber these precious days for the rest of your life, they are very special.

Love you all
