About DadBloggers

Welcome to DadBloggers - a blog by dads to give parenting the male perspective.

Doug Henderson

My name is Doug Henderson. My wife and I are the proud parents of two daughters adopted from China. We brought our first daughter home in October of 2002 and our second daughter in September of 2007. We live in North Carolina.

I started an online family journal (you know it as a "blog") in December of 2004. Even during those early months, I spent a lot of time on the net. What I discovered in casual surfing was that the vast majority of parenting sites and family blogs were written by mothers. Very few fathers, it seemed, were online and talking about the family.

One day I happened across a site called DotMoms where I found a team of women writing about their lives as mothers.

"What a cool idea! There needs to be something similar for men!", I remember thinking.

The seed was planted and on November 30th of 2005, DadBloggers was born.

One of my great desires when this site launched was to maintain a diverse group of men who are active in the life of their child(ren). I believe that we succeeded. We've had men from the east coast and from the west coast; stay-at-home dads and dads working outside of the home; Christian dads and dads who claim no religious affiliation; dads with one child and dads with multiples; dads on opposite ends of the political spectrum; married dads and single dads; dads with biological children and those who have grown their family through adoption.

Despite our differences, we all share one common bond: we adore our kids and love to write about them.

If you would like more information about the site, feel free to contact me.

I hope you enjoy DadBloggers.
